Illustration > "The Shutdown" video game!

My friend Helen Roinioti and me, we are working on a 2D point & click video game that it's called The Shutdown.

The Shutdown is still in a very-early stage of pre-production (we pitch it in the Game Idea competition by HGDA some days ago) but we are really enthusiastic about it.

We made a tumblr site for it, in order to keep it updated as the process goes on...

Feel free to send us your feedback (you can also download the PDF presentation of The Shutdown from there).

:)

Process > Behind the scenes on FLIX's 1st year anniversary!

I was asked by FLIX, to create something for their 1st year anniversary, so I came up with the idea of making a homage poster for the site, based on Mike Mills' "Beginners" movie poster (I'm a huge fan! FLIX is too!).

You can see the final piece on the post by flix.gr (among 4 other designers) or on my official website.

I knew right form the start that I had to start with the handmade typography on this one. I spent a lot on time on this, working on many A4 papers with brush calligraphy treatments.

After hours, I chose with of the samples were good for the project.

I went with the one in the left-bottom corner.

Afterwards, it was time to work on the illustrations with the Pen Tool on illustrator CS5. Below you can see some details of the final piece.

The shadow on the background was edited on Photoshop CS5.

Thanks for reading this!

Exhibition > Blogoscars 2012 - "Drive"!

Two days ago, I took part in a mini exhibition that was held during the blogoscars 2012 party, at bios, Athens. The winning movie for this year's blogoscars was "Drive" so 5 comic artists/illustrators (including me) were asked to draw an illustration inspired by the movie.

I have to mention that the detail on the jacket I drew is S-I-C-K!!!
You can buy my sketch for 400 euro (black ink on a A3 paper, 220gsm).
Send me an email at info(at)onemanshowstudio(dot)com for inquiries.

The photos from the exhibition were taken by Ilias Kyriazis.

{Blogovision Intermission} Press > Status magazine, Comics Alliance & Lifo!

I was selected among the 40 most creative people in Greece, for the latest issue (December 2011) of Status magazine, for my works as comic artist/illustrator/graphic designer and for my choices as a publisher.

It's nice being among friends (such as Pan Pan) and people that I truly admire their work (such as: Designers United, Beetroot, HOPE, Stelios Faitakis, Kostas Voyatzis, Greece is for Lovers e.t.c.).

Also, my Spider Jerusalem's tattoos piece, was selected from Comics Alliance (a massive comics related website) for their previous week "Best Art Ever" section.

Last but not least, my sketchbook for the upcoming exhibition in Tel Aviv, got some exposure in Lifo's site culture section. Great times!

Exhibitions > Taking part in SEEAR Playground that starts today!

Some months ago, I was asked by Stavros Kypraios, to take part in SEEAR project! Of course I said "yes" because I love the idea of the project (SEE + HEAR = SEEAR... visit the official website for more info). This year's theme is "playground".

SEEAR PLAYGROUND's opening party is today, Friday 11.11.2011. It will last until Sunday 13.11 and has FREE entrance.

I had a great time working on my piece and I think that it's my most ambitious illustration, so far (the fake-3D-effect was done in photoshop). Below you can see a small detail of the 70x100cm piece:

Hope to see you there. It would be a pleasure!

Exhibitions > Participation in the Doodles exhibition, of Art For More event!

Tomorrow (Friday, 07/10/2011) and up until Sunday, I'm taking part in the Doodles exhibition of the ART FOR MORE event (@ the HUB, Alkminis 5, Gazi, see the fb event here). Below, you can also see the program of the event (text in Greek, click on the images for full view):

I'm participating in the exhibition with a large-scale piece (almost 4 square meters) made out of 300+ doodles on various papers that I drew over the last 10 years.

Here are some photos of the preparation of the piece (took me 2,5 hours to complete the synthesis, with some help from Maritina, Dora & Nikos):

And here is a detail of the final piece and also a photo of me in front of it, by Mr. Haris Hararis of Radial:

See you there!!!

EDIT >>>
The piece I did for the event, was featured in Computer Arts blog's post "07 October". That's nice!!!

Illustrator, Comic Artist > One Man Show studio's PRINTS @ Comicdom Con Athens 2011!

The last couple of days, I'm working on the brand new comics/artbooks of my publishing company "giganto books". The 2 of the 4 of them are mine and all will be presented this Friday (and ALL weekend) on Comicdom Con Athens 2011, the best comics-related festival/convention here in Greece.

Since it's been a while since I made some prints of my works, I decided to do so, this year @ Comicdom, with 3 favorite illustrations of mine.

The prints are A3 (international paper) size, are limited to 15 signed & numbered copies and are printed in 300gsm glossy paper. The price for each is 15 euros and I hope that they will be sold out really soon.

As for my brand new comics, they are now in the offset-printing process and below you can see some photos from there.

Populart #3 (link directs to populart 3 official page @ giganto site, the text is in greek) >>>

Neurotica (link directs to populart 3 official page @ giganto site, the text is in greek), this is my collaboration with the group My Wet Calvin >>>

I'll be on Comicdom Con Athens 2011, all of the 3 days, at giganto books' booth, so feel free to pass by, say "hi" and introduce yourself. It would be a great pleasure.

That's all for now. I feel extremely tired. I'm gonna get some rest now. The following days will be full of (happy) exhaustion. :P
